The Washoe County Grand Jury has indicted the owners of Puppies Plus and Puppy Love pet stores on multiple felony counts.
Michael Schneider faces four counts of practicing veterinary medicine without a licence. Leilani Tau-Schneider faces three counts of practicing veterinary medicine without a license and one count of felony Torturing and/or Killing an Animal.
Puppies Plus is located at 6405 S. Virginia Street #1 in Reno and Puppy Love is located at 5318 Sparks Boulevard #100 in Sparks.
The charges stem from activities from May through October 2017.
Specifically, the Indictment charges Schneider and Tau-Schneider with routinely performing or instructing their employees to perform veterinary services on dogs in their store without a consultation from a licensed veterinarian.
The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says, in one case, they failed to provide veterinary care for a sick dog which resulted in its death.
