Perrin heading to Westminster
Perrin, a local Reno dog, is heading to the 2020 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Perrin is a Leonberger and his owner, Sue Turbow, said he is now the #1 All Breed Leonberger in the country.
"If you asked me four years ago if I'd be doing all of this I would've gone what are you talking about? But it just happened and I just happened to get a really good dog," she said.
Perrin has collected more than 60 ribbons since he started competing.
"He won the Leonberger Club of America National Specialty which was in May and that's when he got a really big specialty ribbon," Turbow said.
Not only is Perrin an award-winning pup, but he serves as a therapy dog across Northern Nevada.
"We've been going to Renown and I go to the pediatric unit there and come here to the child care center about once a month and we're the first team to be able to go to Lake's Crossing mental health facility," Turbow said.
Perrin and Turbow visit the Truckee Meadows Child Care Center once a month and the kids there love when they visit.
"He's just been an amazing remarkable dog for pet therapy and as well as for show," she said.
Perrin will compete on February 11.
