RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office has released the name of a woman killed in traffic Friday night.
54-year-old Gerri L. Wilson of Reno was pronounced dead March 16, 2019, the morning after she was hit and killed on Terminal Way while crossing the street outside a crosswalk. There were questions about her age, but the coroner says she was 54.
Investigators have been unable to find her family and are asking for the public’s assistance. Anyone who knows her family is asked to contact the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office at 775-785-6114.
The accident on Terminal between Villanova Drive and Plumb Lane, near Reno-Tahoe International Airport, happened about 8:09 p.m. March 15.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash; nor does speed, and the driver remained on scene, police say.
Police remind pedestrians to use a crosswalk when crossing a street.
"If you are crossing the street during hours of darkness, please cross in a well lit area, wear reflective clothing, and try to make eye contact with the driver to be sure they can see you and are going to stop before stepping into the lane of travel," police said in a statement.
