Pedestrian hit Friday night in Reno dies; driver arrested

RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- A 67-year-old Reno woman died early Saturday after being hit Friday, January 11, 2019 about 9:39 p.m. while crossing the street against a red light, according to Reno Police. She was taken to a hospital after the accident and died about three hours later. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The crash took place at 6th Street and Valley Road, east of downtown Reno.

The driver, 48-year-old Christopher Watts, remained on scene but was arrested for driving under the influence causing substantial bodily harm, police say.

Police said Friday the woman was crossing against a red light and that Watts had the green light.
