RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Located in the far southwest corner of customer service at the main post office on Vassar, the passport office only takes appointments online.
You can often find customers filling out forms on-site prior to that appointment.
It can be confusing, you may not have the right material needed.
Now the post office is offering a one-stop-shop to apply for a passport.
It's called a “Passport Fair.”
“Well we did 80 the last time and that was without press coverage,” says Randi Jones, USPS Supervisor Customer Service Support. “So I would love it if we did 150 groups that would be great. When people come in they will be issued a ticket and be called in the order they arrived. And there will be chairs set up so people can actually sit,” says Jones.
It is the third such event this year at the main post office in Reno.
Customers will be met at the main lobby.
Forms as well as a photographer will be available.
You can also get assistance from someone who has experience with passport applications.
On Sunday, September 8, 2019 between 9AM and 3PM, you'll be asked to bring the following:
•Previously issued, undamaged U.S. passport
•Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county, or state (Hospital-issued birth certificates are not acceptable)
•Consular report of birth abroad or birth certificate
•Certificate of citizenship
You'll also be asked to bring one current ID such as:
•Valid driver's license
•Current government ID
•Current military ID
