Victim identified from Friday shooting death on California Avenue

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - UPDATE: The Washoe County Coroner's office has identified the man killed Friday, October 11, 2019 as Christopher Dressler, 37, of Sparks.

Dressler was shot Friday afternoon in the 700 block of California Avenue and died that night, according to Reno Police Department said Saturday.

Secret Witness is offering a $2,500 reward for information about the case. People who give tips to Secret Witness can remain anonymous.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Reno Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened in the 700 block of California Avenue.

It happened just before 3PM Friday, October 11, 2019.

Police say three males entered an empty lot, then shots were fired and two ran out.

Police say the victim knew the shooter and was conscious when he was taken to a hospital.

The two men who ran off are described as being between 30 and 40 years old. Police say one was wearing a red shirt, and the other was wearing a black shirt.

Officers say the shooting is not random, and there is no threat to the community.

California Avenue was closed between St. Lawrence and Nixon Avenues, but has since reopened.
