RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -- Good Samaritans tackled a knife-wielding man who was threatening a woman at a Chevron Gas Station at the corner of North Wells Avenue and East 6th Street, says Sergeant Andy Carter of the Reno Police Department.

About 5:35PM November 5, 2018, police say Joshua Etter approached a woman pumping gas and demanded her vehicle. Police say Etter was threatening the victim with a large knife.

The victim backed away as police say Etter stole some items from her vehicle. Police say Etter then started walking toward the victim, who was yelling for help.

Police say a witness confronted the armed suspect and tackled him to the ground. A struggle followed and the witness was stabbed.

More members of the public stepped in and held Etter until officers arrived, according to police.

The victim of the stabbing was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Etter is charged with battery with a deadly weapon and robbery.
