RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -- One person was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center early Saturday for burns after a home fire near downtown Reno and one firefighter was also evaluated for injuries suffered fighting the fire.

Three people were displaced by the fire reported at 2:28 a.m. in the duplex in the 200 block of Pine Street, the Reno Fire Department reported.
All three people were outside when firefighters arrived. There was still a dog and a cat inside and firefighters were only able to save the dog.
There was significant damage to the structure. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The American Red Cross is helping two adults displaced by the fire. Volunteers will make sure they have a safe place to sleep and have food, clothing, medication and other essentials.
