Two pedestrians killed in separate crashes have been identified

RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- 3:12 p.m. update: The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the two pedestrians hit in unrelated accidents.

65-year-old Randy Billaber, died after a car rolled onto him near the intersection of Kietzke Lane and Galletti Way. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner's Office said his death was the result of multiple blunt force injuries. Billaber is believed to be homeless.

79-year-old Roy Degiovanni of Sparks was transported to Renown and died several hours after being hit by a car near the intersection of Goldy Way and Baring Boulevard. The Medical Examiner's Office said he died of multiple blunt force injuries.

12:25 p.m. update: The Sparks Police Department reports the man in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash has died.

Original story: One pedestrian is dead and another is critically injured following separate accidents early Sunday in Reno and Sparks.

The Reno Police Department said shortly after midnight a single vehicle rolled over in the area of Kietzke Lane and Galetti Way near the Sparks border.

Emergency responders found that the vehicle had rolled over a pedestrian and the pedestrian was trapped underneath. The pedestrian was dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. Reno police are investigating impairment as a factor in the crash.

Northbound Kietzke Lane was closed between Kuenzli Street and Galletti Way but reopened at 5:45 a.m.

Detectives are looking for witnesses to the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the traffic office at 775–334–2141.
At about 2:35 a.m. a 79-year-old man was hit at Goldy Way and Woodstone Drive in Sparks, west of Reed High School.

The Sparks Police Department said a black Toyota was going north on Goldy Way when it hit a pedestrian crossing Goldy Way. The driver of the Toyota left the scene. Police said the vehicle should be missing a piece of the driver’s side bumper and parking lamp.

The victim was in critical condition at a hospital.
