NHP releases names of two killed in Mt. Rose Highway crash

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Nevada Highway Patrol has released the name of a man killed in a crash on the Mt. Rose Highway.

About 5PM May 5, 2018, troopers responded to the crash involving two vehicles on State Route 431 at the intersection with Callahan Road.

The NHP's preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a BMW SUV was headed west on the highway, east of Callahan Road, and turned left into the path of a Nissan Sentra being driven east on the highway, west of Callahan. The front of the Nissan hit the passenger side of the BMW.

The right front passenger of the BMW, 83-year-old Charles Houston of Reno, died from injuries sustained in the crash. His wife, the driver of the BMW, 78-year-old Bjorg Houston of Reno, died three days later in a hospital, also of injuries from the crash.
