PAHRUMP, Nev. (KOLO)-- The Nye County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday deputies chased a driver in a stolen vehicle after the driver sped off and a deputy was dragged by the fleeing vehicle and injured.

Both the driver, whose name was not immediately released, and the deputy were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. The deputy’s injuries were described as minor.

Deputies pulled over the vehicle for a traffic offense and then found out it was stolen, the sheriff’s office said. As they tried to apprehend the driver he took off and hit a sheriff’s motorcycle and dragged a deputy.

Deputies pursued for several minutes and it drove down Nevada 160 and went over the sidewalks and barrier rocks at Gold Town Casino in Pahrump. The vehicle stopped in the parking lot and the driver ran away with deputies in pursuit. Deputies caught him in the casino parking lot.

During the pursuit, a passenger got out of the car. The sheriff’s office said deputies found the passenger but released no further information.
The investigation continues.
