LAS VEGAS (AP) - More than 26,000 people registered to vote in Nevada last month, the biggest increase so far this year.
Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske's office announced Tuesday that there are nearly 1.5 million active, registered voters in the state following August voter registration drives.
Democrats grew their numbers by about 1.7 percent and make up about 38 percent of Nevada's registered voters.
Republicans boosted their numbers by about 1.5 percent and have about 34 percent of the state's electorate.
Nonpartisans make up 21 percent of Nevada voters and the Independent American Party has about 4 percent.
