RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- 6:45 p.m. Update: U.S. 395 is open again and traffic is flowing normally.

Original story: The Nevada Highway Patrol recommends drivers avoid northbound U.S. 395 in the North Valleys after a serious injury crash Friday, November 8, 2019 around 4:40 p.m. at U.S. 395 and Panther Drive.

Traffic is down to one lane but all lanes will be closed when the tow truck arrives so they can safely remove the vehicle, the NHP said.

Traffic is also backed up along Parr Boulevard from vehicles getting off the freeway, a KOLO photographer reports.

The highway is expected to be fully open by 6:30 p.m.

The initial report is that a silver Honda Fit hit a black sports utility vehicle and the Honda flipped over. The Honda driver was injured and taken to a hospital.
