WELLS, Nev. (KOLO)-- Four people died Saturday morning in a head-on crash on U.S. 93 about 25 miles south of Wells in northeast Nevada, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported Sunday.
The crash happened about 11:40 a.m. and closed a 38-mile stretch of the main north-south highway in eastern Nevada for more than give hours.
The NHP said a 2019 Subaru Impreza from Oregon was going north of U.S. 93 when its driver tried to pass in a no-passing zone with double yellow lines. It collided in the southbound lane with a 2019 Hyundai Sonata going south.
Each car had one passenger and all four died at the scene, the NHP said.
The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation continues.
