Police in California are looking for three murderers who right now are nameless and faceless. The trio is wanted in connection with the deadly motorcycle-on-motorcycle shooting of 57-year-old Jeffrey Sterling Duke Saturday afternoon on I-80 in Truckee.
"Hopefully we'll get some suspects here," said Capt. Ryan Stonebraker with the Truckee CHP.
Police say three bikers surrounded the victim and shot him all while traveling 70 miles an hour down the highway. It is possible the crime was caught on camera.
"There are a lot of different camera set-ups in the area and investigators are getting that information," said Capt, Stonebraker.
One of the many questions right now is what prompted the shooting. There was a fight involving bikers earlier in the day at Wonder Bar in Reno. According to the victim's Facebook page, he was at Wonder Bar sometime Saturday. Police haven't confirmed if he was involved in the fight, or if the fight was related to the shooting. They are investigating the lead.
"Our valley division investigative services unit is doing a thorough investigation and looking at all tips and leads as possible," said Capt. Stonebraker.
The investigation team believes there is a high likelihood the shooting is gang-related. Police do not think the victim was in a biker gang himself, despite him wearing Vagos colors in Facebook pictures.
"Just because someone is wearing something, we can't just sit there and say they were a gang member. There is a lot of different criteria that we look at and that will be part of the investigation," said Capt. Stonebraker.
