CARSON CITY, NV (KOLO) - Nevada's employment situation continues to show strength with 5,200 new jobs filled in July 2019 over the previous month.
To date for the year, employment has increased 43,400 over the year.
Nevada's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) reports that the Nevada unemployment rate was at 4.1% in July 2019. That was slightly higher than June with a 0.1 percentage point increase, but down 0.4 percentage points compared to July 2018.
Nevada's total employment rose 3.1% over the year, which is double the U.S. job growth rate of 1.5%.
The DETR report also found that the highest net employment gains came in leisure and hospitality (+3,672), construction (+2,285), and manufacturing (+2,010).
