(NSHS) held a grand opening for its first campus in Reno February 25, 2019. NSHS has a total of seven campuses, six of which are in Las Vegas. The new Reno campus is at 7350 Longley Lane.
NSHS is a tuition-free public charter school that offers 11th and 12th grade students the opportunity to complete high school while receiving credit toward college courses for free. Students will take the college courses at any of the colleges in the state, including University of Nevada, Reno, Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, or Great Basin College.
"The best part is we can impact so many kids and change their lives by giving them free college, teaching them how to deal with it, and empowering them to take hold of their future," Wendi Hawk, Chief Academic Officer for NSHS, said.
Students can visit the Reno campus for support classes.
"All of our supports are here; we don't just put 15-, 16-, 17-year-olds in college and say have fun, sink or swim," Hawk said. "Our program is they're getting a real college experience and we have an entire process that supports them in that setting."
Online registration for the Fall 2019 semester is open for current sophomores and juniors interested in attending. For more information about NSHS, call 702-953-2600 or visit
