Man facing charges in Sun Valley auto-pedestrian crash

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the man killed while walking across Sun Valley Boulevard at 3 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2019.

The victim, William Morrow, 72, of Sun Valley, was declared dead on the scene.

The NHP arrested the driver, Rodolfo Lopez-Lopez, 55, of Sun Valley. He was booked into the Washoe County Jail and is facing charges of Duty to Stop at Scene of Accident Involving Death, Failure to Render Aid at Vehicle Accident, and Failure to Report Accident to DMV.

NHP says Lopez-Lopez initially left, but later returned to the scene and was arrested. Impairment is not suspected.

The crash closed southbound lanes of Sun Valley Boulevard at 2nd Avenue, and one lane of northbound traffic, but NHP says all lanes are back open.
