NHP arrests sex offender at Reno's Anderson Regional Park

RENO, NV (KOLO) - A concerned citizen alerted an NHP Trooper, leading to the arrest of an unregistered sex offender who is wanted in North Dakota.

The citizen approached the Trooper on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Anderson Regional Park near Kietzke Lane in Reno. The citizen explained there were men sleeping in the park shrubs, expressing concern for the safety of her children and other park patrons.

The Trooper found two men who admitted sleeping in the park overnight. The Trooper then discovered that one of the men, Steven Hurley, 56, was an unregistered sex offender with a felony warrant out of North Dakota.

Hurley is now in the Washoe County Jail, awaiting extradition.
