RENO, NV (KOLO) - The Nevada Department of Transportation is asking you to weigh in on planned safety improvements to N. McCarran Boulevard.

NDOT is developing a safety management plan for the stretch of road between U.S. 395 and Summit Ridge Drive. The plan is to improve lighting, sight distance, and lane configuration.

According to NDOT, 45,000 vehicles travel this stretch of McCarran daily and improvements are needed to some intersections.

"Four of the fourteen major intersections have higher than average crash rates," says Meg Ragonese with NDOT. "We want to address that. We want to enhance access and safety for everyone on Northwest McCarran Blvd."

Two community meetings will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Ranch House at Rancho San Rafael Park. The first meeting is from 11:30AM to 1PM; the second is from 5PM to 6:30PM.
