Minden's Denny joins brother in Championship Finals Rodeo

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) A Minden, Nevada cowboy clinched a spot in the Reno Rodeo's Championship Finals on the final night of qualifying.

Grant Denny scored a 78.5 in the bareback during the Rodeo's Eighth Performance. His 157.5 moves him into sixth place overall in the average. His brother Wyatt is in first place with a 168.5 total.

Trevor Knowles won the steer wrestling, finishing in 4.5 seconds. That moves him to ten seconds flat in the average; tied for fifth place.

Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira took first in the team roping by just one-tenth of a second. They finished in 5.4 seconds on Friday, moving into a tie for eighth place overall.

Winnemucca's Mitch Pollock made up for a no score on his first-round ride, scoring a 79 in his second attempt. That was tied for the third-highest of the night. Heith DeMoss scored a 75, giving him a 162.5 total, and moving him into first place overall.

Ethan Garcia had the best time of the night in tie-down roping, finishing in ten seconds. But his total isn't good enough to make it to the Finals.

Reno's Rachel Primm had the sixth fastest time in the barrel race, finishing in 17.78 seconds. But her two-round total didn't earn a spot in the Championships.

Brennan Eldred closed out the week by tying the best score in bull riding with an 86. He is tied with Brady Portenier in first place overall. Eldred won the Xtreme Bulls competition last year in Reno.

The Championship Finals Rodeo is on Saturday night at 7pm.
