RENO, NV (KOLO) - The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County continues to transform Virginia Street. This week drivers can expect detours in their commute. According to RTC, the following detours will happen this week.

Monday, July 22 – Friday, July 26: Regency Way/Virginia Street intersection will close to westbound traffic. Northbound traffic will still be able to go up and make a right eastbound onto Regency Way. Traffic to and from retail shops and businesses will still be able to go straight through the light heading eastbound. This closure will be in place so that crews can do concrete work.

Saturday, July 27, Thursday, August 1 and Friday, August 2: Wells Avenue, Holcomb Avenue and Regency Way will close at Virginia Street for paving during normal construction hours. During these closures, there will be two-way traffic on Virginia Street to Vassar Street. Access will be restored as soon as possible.

Tuesday, July 23: Martin Street will be closed to through traffic between Virginia Street and Haskell Street for six to eight weeks for roadway and sidewalk demolition and reconstruction.

Side Streets: Construction continues on side streets in Midtown, including Tahoe Street, St. Lawrence Avenue, E. Taylor Street and Moran Street.

RTC expects to finish the project winter of 2020. Businesses will remain open and accessible during construction.
