RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Reno Police have arrested a man after a search that led to a school lockdown Friday.

About 9AM Friday, March 15, 2019, police found a stolen car in the area of Mae Anne Avenue and McCarran Boulevard in northwest Reno. When police tried to stop the driver, he sped off, but police did not chase him because a chase was deemed risky to the public.

A few minutes later, police say the driver collided with a Washoe County school bus in the area of Amarak Way and Royal Vista Way. The bus was occupied by the driver and three children, none hurt, according to police.

The driver ran off but was found about a quarter mile away. The police activity led to a precautionary Code Yellow lockdown. The Washoe County School Police Department is investigating the crash.

27-year-old Ryan Nott of Reno is charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Eluding, and Hit and Run.
