RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- A man faces up to six years in prison after a Washoe District Court jury on Wednesday convicted him of felony child abuse.
Harlan Zachary Iske, 31, faces sentencing May 29.
The Reno Police Department was called to an elementary school last May on a report that a 3-year-old preschool student came to school with an obvious injury to the side of her face, the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office reported.
Police found a hand-shaped red marks and bruises on her face and buttocks and in her ear area, the district attorney’s office said. The child’s parents and grandmother identified Iske as a suspect, the district attorney’s office said.
Prosecutors said Iske was angry with the girl for getting into her grandmother’s jewelry and slapped her hard enough to leave the marks.
