SUN VALLEY, Nev. (KOLO) - Washoe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Sun Valley man Tuesday night on multiple charges of battery, assault, and child abuse after a shooting.

About 10PM March 12, 2019, deputies responded to a home on Bozic Lane south of 8th Avenue in Sun Valley on a report of shots fired.

When they got there, a woman told deputies that she had a dispute with 30-year-old Scott Petersen, her boyfriend, earlier that night, and he had locked himself inside a bedroom with one of her children. Her other children were removed by deputies, none hurt.

Deputies talked Peterson into surrendering about 10:45PM. The child with him was unharmed.

Deputies learned Petersen was the suspect in a shooting outside the home earlier the same night, unrelated to the domestic dispute. The victim of the shooting, a friend of the suspect, was taken to a hospital and treated for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

Peterson was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including two charges of Battery with a Deadly Weapon, two charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and six charges of Child Abuse or Neglect.
