SPARKS, NV (KOLO) - The Nevada Highway Patrol has arrested a man accused of a road rage hit-and-run Friday morning in Sparks.

About 8:45 a.m. July 12, 2019, troopers were called to I-80 and Vista Boulevard. Witnesses reported a white 1993 Ford Tempo and a gold sedan had been involved in a road rage incident, with the driver of the Ford improperly passing a pickup on the eastbound ramp on the inside shoulder. The driver of the Ford pointed a handgun in the air and racked the slide back, then hit the left side of the pickup with his car and drove off.

Troopers found the Ford Tempo on Vista Boulevard and arrested the driver, 24-year-old Daniel Swirsky of Reno. He is charged with being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful overtaking of a vehicle, duty to stop at a crash causing property damage, failure to render aid, and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

A loaded Ruger handgun and brass knuckles with a folding 6-inch knife blade were found in the car.

NHP is looking for anyone who saw the incident or anyone who may be able to identify the gold sedan. If you have any information, you're asked to contact Trooper Thompson at (775) 687-9600 or matthew.thompson@dps.state.nv.us and reference NHP Case #190700956.
