Magnitude 2.7 quake reported near North Lake Tahoe

CARNELIAN BAY, Calif. (KOLO)-- There was a magnitude 2.7 earthquake Sunday afternoon near Carnelian Bay.

Placer County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Dave Hunt said the sheriff’s office received no calls about the 4:53 p.m. quake, which happened about 2,000 feet from the water’s edge on the north shore of Lake Tahoe.

It happened about 5.2 miles below the surface.
