SPARKS, NV (KOLO) - The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is back in Sparks for two days of racing. Drivers say that everyone will find what they're looking for at this event.
"It's full of action it's not like NASCAR where we're just sitting there pacing each other, we're slamming each other, pushing people off the track, there's trucks flipping over," Jerett Brooks, a driver, says.
Aside from all of the action, drivers say what makes this different is that it's a full family sport.
"My dad's been a fabricator since day one and we've always built our own trucks and we've been around every aspect of the sport as far as racing, building and being on the track," Douglas Mittag, another driver, says.
And beyond blood family, they say this community is like chosen family.
"You gotta have your game face on and when we hit the track there's no friends or anything, it's all business," Christopher Polvoorde says. He's been racing for nine years.
The event kicks off at 4 p.m. on July 26 at the Wild West Motorsports Park in Sparks.
