Local retailers still hiring for the holidays
Even though the halls aren't completely decked out yet at Scheels, the holiday season is top of mind at the sporting goods store. It's looking to fill ten seasonal positions as soon as possible.
"Obviously, this time of year, we get extremely busy," says Chris Pyrah, Human Resources Leader at Scheels.
After all, Black Friday is less than four weeks away. But it's not just Scheels where the hiring managers are busy. Twelve stores at the Outlets at Sparks are hiring this holiday season and are collectively trying to fill more than 80 positions.
Over at The Summit, stores aren't necessarily advertising that they are hiring, but several are. J. Crew is one of them and the manager there says they're looking to hire three to four new employees.
"If people want to get a job here, there's plenty of opportunity," says Dan Davis, Marketing Manager at The Summit. "There are many stores, restaurants. I know a lot of restaurants take on additional servers to accommodate the holiday season, so if you're looking to work, there's plenty of opportunity."
While many of these temporary jobs are part-time, getting hired could be the first step to a career.
"We like to find associates that want to stay here long-term," says Pyrah, Human Resources Leader at Scheels. "I've been here for 14 years, so I like to find people that want to stay here as well, as long as I have."
Below is a list of some of the retailers who are hiring for seasonal employment. Those who are interested in applying are encouraged to visit those retailers individually to learn more about the requirements and how to apply.
