KOLO-TV honored by National Association of Broadcasters

has announced its 2016 Celebration of Service to America Awards, including an honor for KOLO-TV.
The Service to Community award honors, according to the National Association of Broadcasters, "radio and television broadcasters for individual campaigns, projects or programs that serve the public good or otherwise provide exemplary service to their local communities."
KOLO-TV received the 2016 Service to Community award in Washington, D.C. June 21.
Other finalists for the Service to Community award included television stations in Cedar Rapids, IA, Lexington, KY, Waco, TX, Columbus, OH, Boston, MA, Mosellee, MS and New York, NY.
"Local broadcasters are an essential part of the fabric of their communities," said NABEF President Marcellus Alexander. “The NAB Education Foundation proudly salutes the recipients of this years’ Service to America Awards for their unwavering commitment to making a positive local impact.”
KOLO-TV is being honored for the work done through
, which offers assistance and promotion to non-profit organizations in Northern Nevada.
In 2015, KOLOCares featured six Pillar Partners: the Reno Initiative for Shelter and Equality, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada, Arts for All Nevada, Join Together Northern Nevada, Seniors in Service and Think Kindness.
Our 2016 KOLOCares Pillar Partners include Food For Thought, Northern Nevada Rave Foundation, Community Health Alliance, Northern Nevada Literacy Council, Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation and the Veterans Guest House.
