RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - ABC has made Sunday night's Oscar telecast available online. You can watch it here.
KOLO 8 News Now had signal problems online that affected over-the-air and satellite viewers for about two hours at the beginning of the Oscar telecast. The problems stemmed from a large power outage in the Mount Rose area. NV Energy reports a major breaker failed at a substation, leading to an outage that affected about 10,000 customers in the south Reno area, including a KOLO transmitter site. At the same time, our backup generator failed, so satellite and over-the-air viewers lost the KOLO signal for much of the night.
Cable takes our signal before it goes to our transmitter, which is why cable viewers could still watch.
With the permission of ABC and the Academy of Arts and Sciences, were were able to re-air the first two hours of the Oscars broadcast missed by many viewers. It began at 12:25AM Monday.
We appreciate your patience and we do apologize for the inconvenience.
