The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the body found Friday, January 10, 2020, in the Truckee River.

George Manchester, 71, was pronounced dead on the scene. The cause of his death is still to be determined, but Manchester was believed to have been homeless.

The Reno Police Department is investigating after a man's body was found in the Truckee River.

It was initially reported as a water rescue around 10AM Friday, January 10, 2020 at Riverside Drive and Booth Street.

Police say a person walking east of the Booth Street bridge saw the body in the river and called authorities.

Police say the body was not in the river very long and described it as 'odd' but not suspicious.

Authorities say the man had identification on him, but are not releasing his name at this time.

The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office will look into the cause of death.
