Heavy weather hits Northern Nevada

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Warnings issued by the National Weather Service for Northern Nevada have expired for Wednesday evening, though there could be more. They will be listed here.

There was a thunderstorm warning for the Truckee Meadows and even a Tornado Warning for parts of Washoe, El Dorado and Placer counties after a funnel cloud was seen over Lake Tahoe.

By 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, there were 4,445 NV Energy customers without power, about half in Washoe Valley and another 1,100 in south Reno and in the Virginia Highlands.

NV Energy reported at 8:25 p.m. that only 440 customers were without power.

No major flooding was reported, but there was water on some area roads and heavy hail, especially in the Carson City area. Hail was also reported in the Wingfield Springs area.
