The man shot by police Wednesday night in northeast Reno has died.

The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 56-year-old Daniel Murillo. He died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators say Murillo was threatening people with a knife in the area of Centennial Way and Wedekind Road around 8PM February 5, 2020.

Officers with the Reno Police Department responded to the area and found Murillo. They say he was uncooperative, and refused to comply with officer's commands.

Investigators say he moved aggressively toward the officers with a weapon. One of the officers shot him. Murillo was taken to Renown Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.

The Sparks Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff's Office are handling the ongoing investigation.

The officers involved are on paid administrative leave pending the completion of the investigation.
