Man killed in NW Reno had served time for attacking wife

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Reno Police have confirmed a man found dead outside a northwest Reno home is the man who served prison time for attacking his wife with a frying pan in 2008.

The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as 60-year-old Edward L. Halverson of Reno. The ME's office has not been able to find his family, and investigators are asking anyone who knows his family to contact the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office at 775-785-6114.

The cause and manner of death are pending investigation.

Halverson had been released from Nevada Department of Corrections custody after serving five years in prison for hitting former Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Halverson in 2008 during a domestic dispute. She died in 2014; the couple had split by then.

Edward Halverson was found dead by Reno Police responding to a home on Crown Drive, near Kings Row, the morning of April 2, 2019.

No one has been arrested and the investigation continues, but detectives believe they have found everyone involved in the case.
