East Fourth Street reopens after life-threatening crash

RENO, NV (KOLO)-- 9:15 p.m. update: The Reno Police Department said East Fourth Street has reopened.

7 p.m. update: One driver was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries Wednesday after a head-on collection in the 1900 block of East Fourth Street, the Reno Police Department said.

Police closed the road after the 2:41 p.m. crash and it is expected to be reopened by 8 p.m.

Police said a white pick up truck going east on East Fourth Street crossed the center line and hit a car going west head on. Both drivers had to be extricated. The female in the car suffered life-threatening injuries. The male driving the truck was also injured and taken to the hospital.

Police said neither speed nor impairment seem to be a factor.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call traffic detectives at 775-334-2141.

6:30 p.m. update: One person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash on East Fourth Street, the Reno Police Department reports.

Police expect to have East Fourth Street open by 7:30 p.m.

Original story: The 1900 block of East Fourth Street is closed Wednesday afternoon until further notice following a head-on crash, the Reno Police Department said.

The crash happened west of Ferrari Street around 2:30 p.m.. People had to be extricated out of both vehicles and both were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.
