At the Discovery Museum in downtown Reno, it's hard to keep up with 10-year-old Jamir. The spunky young boy with energy to burn is running around all the exhibits. But his favorite is the scaled down model of the Truckee River. There you can find him splashing in the water and being a vivacious boy.

That's something Jamir's caseworker, Josh Cruz, says is pretty typical of Jamir.

"He will keep you on your toes," he said.

But it's good that Jamir has energy to burn, because he loves to be active, especially when it comes to sports.

He plays soccer and is in jiu jitsu, but his favorite sport is baseball. Jamir says he wants a family that will let him play a lot of sports, but also won't get mad if he plays Fortnight every now and then. He may be energetic, but behind the spirit is a young boy with a big heart.

"Jamir is very kind-hearted," Cruz said. "He cares a lot about other people. He really wants a family that can help support him through his struggles and success. He is just an overall great kid."

Jamir says his perfect family would be a mom and dad who will take him on adventures to Disneyland or Lego Land, though he doesn't like camping.

What he does like is people.

"He's super interested in other people," Cruz said. "He asked me a lot of questions about myself when I first met him. He likes to tell you all about his day, his interests. He's just overall a fun kid. Wants to be loved and has plenty of love to give back."

Cruz says Jamir needs parents who will put him first and make sure all his needs are met, and parents who will stay involved with his schooling, since he sometimes struggles with turning his paperwork in. While school may not be his favorite thing, Jamir knows exactly what he wants to be when he grows up.

"Police officer because I want to help the world," he said.

It may be a few years until that happens, but until then he will keep being Jamir, a spirited boy with a bright personality.

"I think he has so much light to give, and any family would benefit from being a part of that," Cruz said.
