Gun left in South Lake Tahoe Airbnb

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) - A Santa Clara County sheriff's deputy is on paid leave after apparently leaving his badge and a loaded gun that were found by a child at a South Lake Tahoe rental home.

KTVU-TV says 9-year-old Josh Segarra found the weapon after arriving with his family at an Airbnb rental home over the weekend. His father says it's lucky nobody was hurt.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office says the gun was the personal weapon of a deputy who apparently left it there by mistake. The deputy's on administrative leave while the office investigates.

Airbnb says it's also investigating.
