Woman sentenced for stealing $264K from elderly father

A 62-year-old Douglas County woman has been sentenced for exploitation of an older person, a category “B” felony.

Second Judicial District Court Judge James Todd Russell sentenced Vicky Jo Adams to up to eight years in prison, and ordered her to pay full restitution in the amount of $264,043.96.

, Adams was designated the caregiver of her 93-year-old father and his estate. Adams was entrusted with funds for the sole purpose of providing for her father’s care, but she converted more than $250,000 of her father’s funds for her own personal use.

Adams was arrested by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
