The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 56-year-old Gardnerville woman.

The office says Connie Koontz was killed on James Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos the night of Wednesday, January 9, 2019 or early Thursday.

Police say they don't know who the killer is and that person “remains a threat to the community.” They ask people to lock doors and windows and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Saturday, the sheriff's office released a statement saying there was nothing new to report and that Sheriff Dan Coverley will discuss the incident Monday morning.

They ask anyone with information to contact Investigator Ryan Young at 775-782-9926 or, or call Douglas County Secret Witness at 775-782-7463.
