RENO, NV (KOLO)-- A crackdown on illegal street racing Friday night led four arrests, 29 citations and one towed vehicle, the Reno Police department reported Saturday.

Two were arrested for driving under the influence, one had an outstanding arrest warrant and one was arrested for reckless driving, driving without a license and having an open container, police said.

Since the street racing crackdowns started, street racing has declined in the area, police said. Police started the crackdowns at the request of the community.

The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety provided the grant for the enforcement. It was a joint effort by RPD, Sparks Police Department, University of Nevada Police Department and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
