RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Bonnie Weber, a former Chairwoman of the Washoe County Commission and the Regional Transportation Commission, has announced her campaign for Reno City Council, Ward 4. That ward includes North and Northeast Reno, University Terrace, Panther Valley and Stead neighborhoods.

Weber served on the Washoe County Commission from 2003 to 2015 and served on the RTC from 2012 to 2014.

“I’m looking forward to meeting my friends and neighbors again throughout Ward 4 as I ask for their vote for Reno City Council,” Weber said. "Serving the North Valleys has been my passion for the 32 years that my husband and I have lived in Ward 4. We’ve raised our family here and our daughter and her husband and our two grandkids live here in the North Valleys also.”

Weber says as a County Commissioner, she and her colleagues worked to pass balanced budgets while maintaining essential public services.

"Today the City of Reno and its residents face many significant challenges such as growth, affordable housing, transportation, water and infrastructure,” says Weber. “My experience serving on the County Commission for 12 years, RTC, Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, and many other boards and commissions makes me uniquely qualified to handle the challenges we face in the City of Reno today. The partnerships that I’ve worked to build with constituents and our local, state and federal officials will help make Reno an even better place to live, work and play.”

Ward 4 is currently represented by Paul McKenzie, who was elected in 2014 and is running for re-election.
