RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Food Bank of Northern Nevada says tickets are now on sale for Volun-BEER, a new event benefiting the Food Bank.

The first Volun-BEER event will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 9 at the Great Basin Brewing Company’s Taps and Tanks location at 1155 S Rock Blvd #490, Reno. The event offers attendees the opportunity to support the hunger issue in the community while participating in a volunteer experience event, all while having a great time.

Those who participate in the first Volun-BEER event will have the opportunity to prepare food packages for distribution to families in northern Nevada, while they enjoy dinner and award-winning beers from Great Basin Brewing Company. Along with the volunteer activity, admission includes a free tour of the brewing facility, dinner, the first beer, and one raffle ticket. Tickets are being sold in advance online and are $25 per person. Attendees must be 21 years or older.

“We are excited to have a fun event supporting a very serious issue in our community,” said Al Brislain, president and CEO of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. “We know people want to get involved and help and many don’t realize the high numbers of families who are still struggling right here in northern Nevada. People are facing high rents and other expenses that are making it tough to make ends meet, even when they are working full time.”
