A motor home caught fire and crashed into a guardrail on Kingsbury Grade on Sunday, closing the road from Carson Valley to Lake Tahoe at Tramway Drive for several hours.
The fire, originally reported at 2:57 p.m., appeared to be ready to spread into the wildland, but three engines from the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District knocked it down before it could spread, fire public information officer Eric Guevin said. Fire fully engulfed the motor home.
The driver and a passenger in the motor home were taken to Barton Memorial Hospital for evaluation of minor injuries, Guevin said.
