Jacks Valley Fire put at 5.26 acres

MINDEN, Nev. (KOLO)-- 6:55 p.m. update: Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center puts the Jacks Valley Fire at 5.26 acres and the China Springs Fire is contained at 1.5 acres.

5:55 p.m. update: Douglas County reports rain appears to be help dousing the Jacks Valley Fire, but warns people should still be ready to evacuate.

4:56 p.m. update: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports another fire in the area of Jacks Valley Elementary School.

An advisory is being issued for the areas of Clear Creek Road, Silverado and Shawnee due to strong winds. It is an advisory now but people should be prepared to evacuate if it is requested.

Douglas County said parents can pick up their children if they are still at the school.

Sierra Front reports the fire is a tenth of an acre.

Original story: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday about 4 p.m. there is a fire in the China Springs area of Douglas County.

No buildings are threatened. The East Fork Fire Protection District is responding to the fire south of the Gardnerville Ranchos

The sheriff’s office asks people to watch for cell phone warnings telling them what to do.
