South Reno fire stopped at 28 acres

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A spokesperson for the Reno Fire Department says the fire burning Monday in the area of Prototype and Double R, north of IGT is fully contained.

911 calls were first made Monday August 20, 2018 around 5:20 p.m.

Fire crews found three to four acres burning when they arrived. The wind pushed the flames forward along dry brush, growing it to 28 acres.

The flames burned south, putting two dozen homes and apartments in danger.

Ten fire engines were used to stop the fire from spreading. Two were from Truckee Meadows Fire Department. No homes or apartments were damaged.

There is no word yet on a cause.
