RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- A northeast Reno home is not inhabitable and its resident displaced after a fire Saturday morning.

The Reno Fire Department responded to the fire on Sutton Way and Hood Way at about 11:12 a.m. March 23, 2019, and arrived to find smoke coming out of the home.

Firefighters said the fire started in the kitchen and spread to the attic. There is moderate to severe damage in much of the home. The woman who lives in the home was not there when the fire started, firefighters said. The cause has not been determined.

The American Red Cross found a place for the woman to stay and her two dogs were also given shelter, the fire department said.
