Fire at NV Energy plant in Zephyr Cove contained

Fire crews have contained a structure fire at the NV Energy plant in South Lake Tahoe that knocked out power to thousands of people.
According to Tahoe Douglas Fire, the fire started at the substation on Sewer Plant Road in Zephyr Cove and was confined to the substation. The cause of the fire was an apparent mechanical failure.
No injuries were reported.
According to NV Energy, power has been restored in Douglas County. At one point, more than 8,000 customers were without power.
