Suspect in custody after Lemmon Valley standoff

RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- 11 p.m. update: Suspect Scott Culton is in custody after a three-hour standoff in Lemmon Valley, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office said.

Culton, 53, is wanted for multiple felonies. No shots were fired in the apprehension but Culton suffered a police dog bite to his leg and will get medical treatment, the sheriff's office said.

Culton was a repeat offender target, the sheriff's office said.

Original story: The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is engaged in a standoff about a quarter of a mile from Lemmon Valley Elementary School.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bob Harmon said there is a felony suspect in a home in the 300 block of Magnolia Way. Deputies are negotiating a surrender with him. It started about 7:30 p.m.

Magnolia Way is closed from Vagabond Court to Aristocrat Way.
There have been no evacuations at this time. The Reno Police Department is helping.

People should avoid the area unless they need to be there, Harmon said.
