Washoe Valley mobile home fire knocked down

WASHOE VALLEY, NV (KOLO)-- 4:11 p.m. update: The fire in Washoe Valley has been knocked down and the fire has been confined to the exterior of the home, the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District reports.

Battalion Chief Mike Heikka says the fire started in the brush outside the trailer, which was destroyed. No one was inside and no injuries were reported. No cause has been determined.

Heikka says if conditions were more dry, which could be the case in a week or two, this would have been a "much different fire."

Original story: The exterior of a mobile home is on fire in Washoe Valley, the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District reports.

The fire in the 3800 block of White Pine Drive was reported about 3:37 p.m. Wednesday.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office reports it is going door-to-door to ask people to evacuate.

The sheriff’s office asks people to avoid the area and to watch for emergency equipment.
